Finding us is very straightforward - our street name - Wincheap - is one of the best known in Canterbury. Thanington Hotel is located just outside the city wall at 140 Wincheap, which is the first ½ mile of the A28 road from Canterbury to Ashford.

By car

• From Dover to Canterbury: Take the A2 from Dover towards London. Sixteen miles on take the 2nd turn-off to Canterbury and at the traffic lights turn right towards the city. Thanington Hotel is 500 yards down on the left-hand side.

• From the Channel Tunnel to Canterbury: Take the M20, then A20 signposted Dover, Canterbury, Folkestone, then the A260 signposted Canterbury. Eight miles on pick up the A2 Dover to Canterbury road and then the Wincheap turn-off as above.

• From London to Canterbury: Take the M2 to junction 7, where the motorway ends and the road splits into the A2 (left hand lane) and the A249 (right hand lane). Keep to the left hand lane then take the fourth exit at the roundabout, direction Canterbury. Some 8 miles on, a slip road to the left takes you to Canterbury. Cross over the first roundabout and turn right at the next two roundabouts. The second will bring you under the railway bridge, the Thanington Hotel is a further 400 yards along, on the right-hand side.

• Train passengers arriving at Canterbury East: turn left out of the station and left again at the roundabout into Wincheap. The hotel is 400 yards away on the right hand side. The Canterbury West Rail Station is one mile from the Hotel. Taxis are available in the station forecourt.
